This explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we ask for an email address so your pass follows you between devices, we count page views anonymously so we know which countries people care about, and we do not track you anywhere else on the internet.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you buy a pass, create an account, join the waitlist or apply as a creator. It is how we send your receipt and access link, and how you sign in.
• Your purchase record: which pass, when, the amount, Stripe’s reference numbers, and whether it was later refunded or disputed. We also store the wording of the checkout consent you ticked, with the time you ticked it.
• Your marketing choice, which is off unless you tick the box.
• Creator applications: the name, email, channel link and countries you send us, plus any list link or note you add.
• Anonymous usage counts: which page was viewed, which country or place was opened, which pass was clicked, and the website you arrived from — the site only, never the full address. Each visit gets a random number that exists only in the page’s memory and is gone the moment you reload or close the tab. Nothing is written to your device for this, and none of it identifies you.

We do not ask for your name, your address or your date of birth, and we never see your card details — those go straight to Stripe.

What we store in your browser

One thing: a record of the passes you have bought, so the map stays unlocked when you come back. That is strictly necessary for something you asked us to do, which is why this site has no cookie banner. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels.

Who else handles your information

• Stripe — takes the payment and sends the receipt.
• Supabase — the database holding accounts, purchases, the waitlist and the anonymous counts.
• Cloudflare — serves the website and runs the small service behind checkout and sign-in.
• Resend — sends your access link and any email you asked for.

They act on our instructions and may process data outside the UK, protected by the safeguards the law requires. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.

Opening a place takes you to Google Maps, Dazhong Dianping or YouTube. Once you are there you are on their service, under their privacy policy, not ours.

Why we are allowed to hold it

• To give you what you paid for and run your account — because we have a contract with you.
• To keep records of sales and refunds — because the law requires it.
• To send marketing — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To count anonymous usage and prevent fraud and abuse — because we have a legitimate interest in knowing the site works and in not being defrauded.

How long we keep it

• Records of a sale or refund: six years, which is what UK tax rules require.
• Your account and email: until you ask us to delete it.
• Waitlist and creator applications: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
• Anonymous counts: kept indefinitely, because there is nothing personal left in them.

What you can ask us to do

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop using it in a particular way, or ask for it in a portable form. Email [email protected] and we will reply within a month. There is one limit: we have to keep the record of a completed sale for tax purposes even if you close your account.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn marketing off yourself in your account at any time.

If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is meant for adults and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will delete them.
