What we sell

Somewhere Good is a map of places that travel creators have actually been to. Five places in every country are free to open. A pass unlocks the rest of that creator’s picks: the name of each place, the note the creator wrote about it, and a link that opens it in Google Maps — or, for China, in Dazhong Dianping. A pass also gives you the creator’s own full saved list for that country.

What you are buying is access to that information on this website. It is digital content, not a physical product and not a booking, reservation or travel service of any kind.

Prices and payment

• A Country Pass covers every pick in one country. A Creator Map pass covers every country on that creator’s map, including countries they add later.
• Every pass is a single payment. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel.
• Prices are shown and charged in US dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts it at their rate and may add a fee we do not see or receive.
• Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. The payment appears on your statement as SOMEWHEREGOOD.IO.
• We may change our prices at any time. The price you paid is the price you paid; a later change never affects a pass you already hold.

How and when you get access

Your pass unlocks immediately once the payment goes through — there is nothing to wait for and nothing to download. We create a free account using the email address you gave at checkout and send you an access link. You can open your pass on any phone or laptop by entering that email address and the six-digit code we send you. There is no password.

Your right to cancel, and why you give it up

When you buy digital content online in the UK you normally have 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply once you have agreed to the content being supplied immediately and acknowledged that you are giving the right up.

That is what the tick box at checkout is for. Because your pass unlocks the second you pay, we ask you to confirm you want it that way, and we record the exact wording you agreed to along with your payment. Once you have ticked it and paid, there are no change-of-mind refunds.

What a pass does and does not promise

• These are personal recommendations from a creator, not professional advice. Nobody pays to appear on the map and no business can buy a pin.
• Places change. Restaurants close, move, change hands and change their prices and hours. We check pins against Google Maps and remove ones that have closed, but we cannot promise that every place is open or unchanged on the day you go.
• Ratings, review counts, opening hours and locations come from Google Maps or Dazhong Dianping and belong to them. We do not control those services and cannot promise they will be available in your country.
• A pass is for your own personal use. Please do not republish, resell, scrape or bulk-copy the lists, the notes or the map data, or share your account so that other people can use your pass.

Your account

Keep your email account secure, since anyone with access to it can sign in to your pass. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has got in. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to redistribute content or to abuse the service, and where we do that because of a clear breach we do not refund the pass.

Changes to the site

We add countries, creators and places over time, and occasionally remove a place or change how something works. A Creator Map pass includes every country that creator adds later, at no extra cost. We may change these terms for future purchases; the version that applies to you is the one published when you bought.

If something goes wrong

We are responsible to you for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for anything that happens to you at a place you visited because of a recommendation, for a business being closed, or for losses that were not foreseeable. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to digital content that is of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by United Kingdom law, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. Nothing here takes away the consumer protections you have where you live.
